Brett Johnston - Managing Partner
SunTx Urbana is led by Brett Johnston, a real estate investment and development veteran with 28 years of experience in the acquisition, construction, planning, asset management, land entitlement, and day-to-day operations of homebuilding, golf course management, and resort development. Prior to becoming Managing Partner of SunTx Urbana, Mr. Johnston served seven years as Division President, General Manager, and Project Manager at Arvida, a highly successful master-planned community and resort developer formerly owned by Disney. Arvida had number one selling communities in both Dallas and Atlanta during the years under Mr. Johnston’s direction of the Texas and Georgia divisions. In aggregate, Mr. Johnston has served as the owner, manager and/or developer on over 15,000 lots across more than 25 distinct communities around the United States and Central America.
Mr. Johnston received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1983. In addition to his role at SunTx Urbana, Mr. Johnston is also a member the Urban Land Institute Recreation Council and the Congress for New Urbanism.
Andy Kerner - Operating Partner
Mr. Kerner is an Operating Partner at SunTx Urbana and a vital member of the team’s leadership. Mr. Kerner has led and managed major real estate market and financial projects as a former CFO of Centex Homes, Cameron Ashley Building Products Inc., and Frito Lay Inc. in the U.S. and Europe, as well in his role a director of Atlanticblue Group, a private agriculture/real estate company based in Florida. Most recently, Mr. Kerner served as the Executive Director of Affordable Housing Land Company, a non-profit organization focused on acquiring land for affordable housing development in Texas. Mr. Kerner also sits on the board of directors for several companies, including Blue Calypso and Carolina Beer and Beverages, and serves as Chairman of the Board for Ranger Offshore.
Mr. Kerner holds an MBA in finance and a BA in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He has served on the Executive Council of the McCombs School of Business Real Estate Finance and Investment Center and currently serves on the Chancellor’s Council Executive Committee for the University of Texas System. He is also on the boards of Union Gospel Mission of Dallas and Campus Crusade Hungary, and spends time helping in the non-profit affordable housing industry.
Anson Reilly - Director of Finance
Mr. Reilly is the Director of Finance for SunTx Urbana. Prior to SunTx Urbana, Mr. Reilly spent over three years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the Transaction Services Advisory Group performing financial due diligence on more than 20 transactions.
Mr. Reilly holds a Master of Accountancy from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University.
